PG|SF #1 EXHIBITION INFO!!!!!

That’s right folks, it’s show time!!!!! We are super excited to be included in the awesome MISSION BICYCLE FESTIVAL this coming Sunday, the 26th, taking place in The Women’s Building of San Francisco. It is here that we will be showing all of the wonderful art we’ve collected this summer in the name of Papergirl-SF for one day, and one day only, don’t miss it!

We are welcoming volunteers who want to help put up the show and/or take it down, so if you want to get your hands dirty and see all the rad art, now is your chance!

Here are the set up details:

Sunday, September 26th, at The Women’s Building

11:00 AM – Vendor set up (we will be hanging up all the art with volunteers starting at this time, we have one hour to set up)
Noon – Doors open to the public (the Block Party outside also starts at noon)
4:00 – Block Party closes.  Everyone inside!
4:05 – 3 minute video premier, Pedal Savvy Fashion Show, custom bike drawing.
6:00 PM – If you haven’t begun packing up already, please start now. (we will begin taking down the art with any remaining volunteers)
7:00 – Hall has been cleaned and lights out (we have 1 hour to take down)
If you are interested in helping set up, please meet us in the main auditorium on the first floor at 11am. If you arrive early and/or they haven’t opened the doors to us yet, you’ll probably see us in the lobby or outside, don’t be shy, say hi! We’ll bring with us the art and the things to hang it with, we have a plan, but we wont know how well it works until we get in and start hanging, all we can do is be really prepared!
Due to the number of pieces and time we have, we will not be able to label each piece with the artists name, however, we will be there all day to answer peoples questions and talk to everyone about Papergirl and any art they might inquire about! An ever growing list of participating artists and links to their websites have been added to the website and can be seen here: PG – SF ARTIST LIST
A PICASA page is also up and running, the artists names are still being added to the descriptions, so bare with us there, it should be good to go by show time. Gotta get the last of the art in! But check out what we have up so far.
PLEASE NOTE: the exhibition breakdown does not include the rolling of the art, as we have a lot of duplicates of work and will only be displaying/bringing one of each piece to the exhibition. The rolling and distribution will take place the following weekend, Oct 3rd. More details to come about that soon.

CHANGE HAS COME!

Well, we have one more big news update! We have made the final decision to push our deadline back by one month.

The Deadline for Submissions is SEPTEMBER 18th!

I know, it’s been done before, BUT the reason we decided to push back the date is because we secured a SHOW, and it was a little later than we all thought it might be. We have been officially invited to showcase all your rad artwork during THE MISSION BICYCLE FESTIVAL!!!!! They will be having an event at the Women’s Building in San Francisco and asked us if we wanted to get in on that, and of course we said yes! The details are still being worked out, but here is what we know so far…..

When: Sunday, September 26th

Time: 3-8pm

Where: The Women’s Building, San Francisco

What: Bikes, Fashion, Bands, Art!

So far this event is only one day long, but we will keep you posted if things change. Right now it’s quick and dirty and it’s gonna be epic. Our expected distribution date is the weekend of October 2-3. So you see, we couldn’t very well cut off submissions mid August and then sit on our hands for a month till the show, so this is the last call for art! And, we’ll be opening another submission drop-off site at the end of the week, final details to be announced this weekend. I hope you can all make it to this rad event and see your art displayed in all its glory!

As always, happy cycling and art making everyone, xo

Please Welcome MISSION BICYCLE COMPANY!!!!

That’s right, now we have TWO art submission drop off locations!!!!!

We are proud to announce a new partnership with Mission Bicycle Company, located right here in the Mission district of San Francisco. They heard about the project and loved it so much they offered to be a secondary drop off location for all you Bay dwellers that would rather hand your work in in-person (of course, you can mail it to Mission Bicycle if you want, as well as our initial PO Box). This is their mailing address, and check them out at:

Mission Bicycle Company – Papergirl SF
766 Valencia Street
San Francisco, CA 94110

Their store hours are 11:00am – 7:00pm for anyone who wants to pop in there and hand off some rad artwork! We’ll be stopping by weekly to collect your beautiful work, and don’t forget, it will all be shown off in a short exhibit before being rolled up and distributed! Happy art making a bike riding everyone!!!

NEW ART!

Hey all,

Just letting you know new art has been posted to the website. However, the gallery may take some time to load, and being the novice web developer that I am, I have yet to find a fix. I’m gonna need to figure out another solution for showing off the art because if the gallery gets any larger it could take forever to load, hmmm. Any web people out there that wanna get their hand dirty with the site? I’m all ears and up for collaboration! Woohoo!

And keep sending us awesome artwork! Submission deadline is closing in!

-Heather
